Art and Literature

I wasn't aware I had much of an appreciation for art until I took an art history class in high school. Now I see that art has so many uses other than just eye candy. This a depiction of Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman, it is probably the most famous image connected with the story. The painting was done by John Quidor. I'm finding I enjoy the art associated with the stories I study as well. Most are illustrations, some you have to really study to determine what story they came from. The original illustrations form The Wizard of Oz look nothing like the Hollywood versions we are used to. Maybe The Wizard of Oz should be the next story I study!

  1. I would love to hear more on The Wizard of Oz. It is unfortunate that we don't utilize art as much in our stories any longer, except on the covers.
